1 Title

The club shall be known as “Hadnall Bowling Club”. 


2  President

A President shall be elected to serve for 3 years.

​3  Officers

The officers of the club shall be: Chairman, Hon. Treasurer and Hon. Secretary, who shall be elected annually.

4  Committee

The affairs of the club shall be managed by a committee of five (5) members who shall be elected annually, together with the officers of the club; any vacancies which occur during the year may be filled by the committee. Five members shall form a quorum. The committee reserves the right to co-opt other individuals for specific purposes such as fund raising and for specific purposes, to form sub-committees which may include co-opted members. Where urgent decisions are deemed necessary between committee meetings, the committee may use emails for this purpose.​

5  Subscriptions

Club subscriptions shall be decided at each Annual General Meeting, and these shall apply for the ensuing year. Any member not having paid their subscription by April 1st shall not be available for selection to play in any league match.

6  Election of members

Any person wishing to become a member of the club must be proposed and seconded by any two members of the club, and such nomination must be forwarded to the Secretary of the club who will lay it before the next meeting of the committee. The candidate will then be balloted for and provided that they are voted for by two thirds of the committee with at least five members voting the candidate shall be duly elected and will become a member upon payment of a joining fee. The fee to be decided annually at the AGM. ​

7  Financial Year

The club’s financial year shall end on December 31st every year.

8  Annual General Meeting

The AGM shall be held as soon as is practicable after the end of the club’s financial year, for the purpose of electing officers and committee and for other general business, Each member shall be allowed to propose one candidate and second one candidate for election to the committee.

9  Special General Meeting

The secretary, on the request in writing of at least six members shall call a Special General Meeting of the members, of which no less than seven clear days shall be given. Such written request shall clearly state the object of the proposed meeting, and no other business other than that specified in the request shall be considered. ​

10  Bye Laws

The committee shall have the power to make bye laws and regulations for the general management of the club, together with conditions for the various competitions, such conditions and bye laws to be posted on the club notice board.

11 Accounts        

​ A statement of accounts shall be prepared by the Treasurer, duly examined by a suitable and competent person, chosen by the committee and presented to members at the Annual General Meeting.

12  Disciplinary Code    

If, in the opinion of a simple majority of the committee at a properly convened meeting, any member is considered to have persistently violated the rules of the club, the committee shall have the power to expel such a member.

13  Alteration of the Rules       

No rule shall be altered except at an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting. A member intending to propose any alteration of the rules at an AGM shall give notice thereof in writing to the secretary not less than twenty-one clear days before the date of such a meeting.

14  Winding up        

In the event of it being found necessary or desirable to wind up the club, the assets shall be disposed of by way of a donation to a charity to be agreed during the winding up proceedings.​ 


15  Use of Club Funds        

Club funds should only be utilized in the legitimate pursuance of club policy and in the interest of the members. This shall specifically exclude any loans being made to members out of club funds. The signatures of treasurer and one other committee member shall be required on all cheques drawn on the club bank accounts.

16  Green Rules      

These shall be updated as necessary and shall be posted on the club notice board but shall include:


Footwear: Suitable footwear, i.e. soft-soled shoes or plimsoles must be worn at all times on the green.

Children: All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or two adult members at all times.  

Green Fees: Non-members shall be allowed to use the green on payment of a green fee, which is fixed annually at the AGM, and accompanied by a member.  


Playability: All members shall be allowed to use the green at any time during the season, provided playing conditions are suitable. The green will be closed from October to March inclusive and open during April only at the discretion of the committee.  


Behaviour:  Normal standards of decency and behaviour will be expected at all times.

17  General

Should any situation arise which is not provided for in the aforegoing rules, it shall be referred to the committee for a decision, which shall be final and binding on all parties.
